[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n January 27, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) held a press conference to release the data on immigration management in 2021.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the State Immigration Administration has implemented a strict and tight immigration policy. Will China’s immigration policy be adjusted and relaxed in 2022?
Chen Jie, the spokesman of the State Immigration Administration, said that the outbreak continues to spread and new mutated strains are accelerating the spread, and the situation of foreign importation is still serious.
The State Immigration Administration once again reminded that the epidemic is still prevalent outside China, so it is important to cherish the hard-won achievements in the prevention and control of the epidemic in China, strictly comply with the epidemic prevention regulations and reduce the non-emergency and non-essential cross-border movement of people.
[box type=”info” align=”” class=”” width=””]Chen Jie pointed out that, at present, those who need to go abroad to study, or for employment and business, or other people who need to come to China for economic and trade, scientific and technological activities, or urgent humanitarian reasons can enter the country after the audit. The immigration management agencies will promptly issue entry and exit documents.[/box]
At the same time, they will continue to facilitate the visa application and residence of foreigners in China according to the law.
In 2021, 79,000 “three non-foreigners” (illegal entry, illegal work, and illegal residence) were investigated and punished according to the law, and 44,000 of them were deported.
According to the regulations, “three non-foreigners” are subject to administrative penalties such as warnings, fines, administrative detention, deportation for a limited period, and confiscation of illegal income, depending on the circumstances of the violation.
