Do International Students Come to China?

In recent years, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the development of many fields in China’s education industry

 

1. With the normalization of the global COVID-19 situation, the intention of overseas students to study in China has increased significantly.

In 2020, nearly 20% of the students interested in Chinese universities changed their study plans abroad. This figure fell sharply to 6.75% in the 2021 survey.

2. With the “normalization” of the epidemic, students are more willing to enter Chinese schools.

The proportion of students who want to study in China in the next year decreased by nearly 10%. Still 16.72% of students want to stay on the sidelines. This shows that students still have a lot of concerns about the study environment and epidemic policies.

They also wanted to get a definite policy when filling in the reasons.

4. Over 80% of the students have a more positive view of China after the COVID-19

The vast majority of international students said that their views on China have become more positive. The main reason is that China has achieved outstanding success in combating the epidemic.

5. China’s strict epidemic prevention policy has a certain impact on the intention of foreign students to come to China.

The negative emotions of international students increased by 7% because of the inability to enter China during the past two years.

To sum up, foreign students in China recognize China’s achievements in the fight against the epidemic. They also hope to enter Chinese university campuses for on-the-spot study, rather than only through online teaching.
