How Do Foreigners In China Conduct Parent- Child Reunions?

1. APPLICATION CONDITION

Unmarried foreign children under 18 who take refuge with Chinese parents or foreign parents who have obtained permanent residence qualification in China may apply for permanent residence.

2. APPLICATION MATERIALS

– Two 2-inch front bareheaded white or light blue background color photos and electronic photos;

– Copies of the applicant’s valid foreign passport and VISA;

– Copy of birth certificate or paternity test;

– Copies of identity certificates of both parents (Chinese parents need to provide a residence booklet and ID card, foreign parents need to provide valid passport and VISA, and foreign parents who have obtained permanent residence qualification in China need to submit valid passport and alien permanent residence ID card);

– First, review and confirm the nationality of the applicant following China’s nationality law. If the child is born abroad, and both or one of the parents are Chinese at the time of birth, the certificate of foreign settlement qualification obtained by one or both of the Chinese parents before the child is born shall be submitted;

– Copy of the marriage certificate of the parents (if both parents have divorced, the court ruling or divorce agreement that the respondent has custody responsibility for the applicant shall be issued);

– Resume of parents (from the age of 18 to now, consecutive years and months are required).

3. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

– The certificates issued by relevant foreign institutions shall be certified by the Chinese embassy or consulate in that country;

– Foreign language materials shall be translated into Chinese and stamped with the official seal of the translation company;

– The original shall be reviewed before submitting the copy, and an A4 copy is required;

– If the applicant needs to print the Chinese name on the alien permanent residence identity card, it shall indicate whether to print the Chinese name in the column of “other matters to be explained”;

– Persons who have not canceled their Chinese household registration shall apply after canceling their household registration.
