Guideline | How to Get the Hong Kong Health Code?

[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]esterday we posted an article HKHC Application Guide, in which we introduced to you what is the Hong Kong Health Code, and how to register for it? Today we have compiled a more detailed guide so you can easily get the HKHC codes.

Who can apply?

According to the official guidelines, both Hong Kong and non-Hong Kong residents can use the Hong Kong Health Code! In other words, whether you are a Hong Kong permanent resident, a Mainlander in Hong Kong, or a Macau resident, you can apply according to the tips below.

1. Register an account

All the preparation things you need are here:

● Mobile phone (with Hong Kong local number for receiving verification SMS)
● Proof of identity (not limited to Hong Kong Identity Card)
● Address of residence in Hong Kong
● LeaveHomeSafe App 3.0 (to be launched at the same time as Hong Kong Health Code!)

Once you have prepared the above information, all you have to do is log on to the Hong Kong Health Code website (www.healthcode.gov.hk) (available on 10 December at 9 pm) and follow the instructions to register!

Registration Process:

1. Fill in personal data according to the guidelines

Real name registration, Hong Kong identity card, or other identification documents are acceptable, but non-Hong Kong residents must go to the designated post office to verify their identity and address upon receipt of the confirmation letter.

2. Fill in the address

Upload proof of address within three months before the date of application, bank statements, or monthly call statements is acceptable. The Hong Kong Housing Authority will check the addresses of public housing tenants.

5. Receive “Personal Identification Number”

Once the system has verified your address, it will issue a “PIN” to the registered phone number. Be sure to save it! Use it to activate your account later!

2. Activate your account

Once you have received your PIN, you can log in to the Hong Kong Health Code system for the first time and activate your account.

Activation process:

● Click on “Login System”;

● Fill in the identification information and password;

● Enter the 6-digit PIN you received when you registered your account.

Activation is successful!

After successful activation, the system will prompt the user to check if the information is correct. In addition, the system will get a verification every time you log in as verification.

3. Upload outbound records

After registering and activating your account, you can proceed to the next step – update the “LeaveHomeSafe” app and upload your travel history.

Upload process:

• Tap the health code system in the “LeaveHomeSafe” app;
• Select “Upload outbound records to Hong Kong Health Code”;
• Fill in the Hong Kong Health Code login information to access the system;
• After getting the mobile phone verification code, upload the information successfully.

4. Apply for a Hong Kong Health Code

With your account registered and your travel history uploaded, here’s the primary thing – applying for a Hong Kong Health code!

Application Process:

1. After logging into the system, select “Health Declaration and Health Code Application”;

2. Confirmation of the latest travel date, registration of personal health condition;

Note: The system will automatically detect if the user belongs to a high-risk group or has visited a risky area based on travel records.

3. The system will compare the risk of applicants and issue red, yellow, and green Hong Kong Health Codes. Only Green Code holders can apply for transfer to “Guangdong Health Code” or “Macao Health Code” and the Green Code is valid only on the same day.

If you need to travel to Guangdong or Macau, Hong Kong citizens need to have the Green Hong Kong Health Code, Nucleic Acid Test Report, COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate, and Quota Booking Certificate.
