12 Foreigners Won the “Magnolia Gold Awards”

The awarding ceremony of “Honorary citizen of Shanghai” and “Magnolia Gold Awards” in 2021 took place in the municipal government on January 24.

American Jeffrey Sean Lehman and French Jean-Paul Agon won the title of “Honorary citizen of Shanghai”, and 10 people won the “Magnolia Gold Awards”. Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, presented medals and certificates to the winners and met with “honorary citizens”.

Jeffrey Sean Lehman, who won the title of “Honorary citizen of Shanghai” this year, is the executive vice president of New York University in Shanghai. As a world-renowned expert in higher education, he came to work in China in 2006 and participated in the founding of Shanghai New York University. He has made outstanding contributions in cultivating excellent talents, introducing overseas high-end talents, building a world-class university and first-class undergraduate education, and promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States at all levels and in multiple fields.

Jean-Paul Agon is currently the chairman of L’Oreal Group. Since 1997, he has led L’Oreal to invest in the construction of China R & D and innovation center in Shanghai, and successively set up the Asia Pacific operation center and North Asia headquarters of the group in Shanghai to actively participate in Shanghai World Expo and Import Expo. Over the past 14 years, L’Oreal has maintained the top 10 in Shanghai’s foreign capital tax list.
